Essay Topics Are a Part of the Debate Format

Essay Topics Are a Part of the Debate FormatIn an essay or debate format, essay topics are often the subject of debate amongst writers and generally fall into three categories: academic, anecdotal, and argumentative. An academic essay is designed to prove or defend the correctness of an established opinion; an anecdotal essay is primarily meant to explore some facet of the person's life that might be considered peculiar or unusual, to capture the attention of readers; and an argumentative essay addresses a common issue in a different way.Popular culture is often analyzed for its influence on the way people live their lives and interpret events. There are essays that analyze the impact of a celebrity or group's movies or music on an average person, a history of historical incidents or speeches that have caused social upheavals, or the way many celebrities represent ethnic and racial groups. The debate is designed to attempt to understand the values that a specific issue represents, the motives of those that are against it, and the potential dangers of taking the issue to extremes. Whether or not the original essay topic is contentious, the best essays are written to give a more rounded and balanced viewpoint. They require a balance of opinion and well-developed facts, so that the reader can come to a conclusion about the issue without seeing the entire discussion.Argumentative essay topics are not necessarily concerned with the issues at hand. They are often the topic of controversy, because they explore deeper issues surrounding the overall meaning of life itself. They can range from debates about people who have died to questions about the religious foundations of life, to discussions of the decline of the family unit, to the reasons for the rise of teen pregnancy, to an analysis of people's beliefs about various conspiracy theories.Writers who do not work from a form of 'arguments to the death' do not necessarily write from a position of favoritism or obedienc e. Rather, they are writers who write from a place of opposition or independence. They analyze how another group or individual has influenced a decision made by the general public. Most importantly, these essays are not intended to criticize, but to explain how things were done in a certain time period. Before writing a personal essay, it is important to research the topic and the specific subjects of a given essay before creating it. The topic should include a sufficient amount of background information to understand the general phenomenon at hand. And a sufficient amount of research must be done in order to properly write the essay. Some critics claim that essay topics reflect poorly on a writer. Others say that essay topics reflect poorly on those who created them. As the discipline continues to grow, more writers will face this issue, and it will likely evolve as the form itself becomes more developed.
